Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions has become a misnomer here, purely because it has been so long since anyone, yours truly included, has been able to spend sufficient time in the site to enable them to get around to asking questions, frequently or otherwise. But the objective at the start of this was to provide a space wherein I could answer common questions from my readers in person and they could be stored and easily accessible without people having to go back and try to trawl through the Forum Archives.

Where do you find your information, where do you find your material?

Jack answers this on video:

How many books have you written altogether?

...and how many of those are Canadian, as opposed to American?

The Styling Of Books

Why are the Canadian books not available in hardcover? .. "As of "The Saxon Shore" the styling of the book has increased, along with the intricate design of the pages. I was wondering if the first couple of books will be reprinted in this newly discovered style of book...?"

Do Publishers usually edit the book?

Is that why there were changes to the American version (i.e. changes the American editor suggested?)

How much are you indebted to the work of Geoffrey Ashe in portraying Arthur as the "Riothamus"?

It's a theory I've embraced; it explains and accounts for the legends better than alternative theories -- such as those which center the Arthurian drama in Scotland (Norma Goodrich). While alternative theories are fascinating -- and necessary -- I've not been impressed by Goodrich's suggestions that Avalon was the Isle of Man, Camelot was both Carlisle and Stirling, and that the Round Table was a Temple. Ditto with Graham Phillips pinpointing of the whole Arthurian drama in Wales. Geoffrey Ashe's scholarly work has influenced me the most, I suppose, and I'm wondering how much it has influenced you.

Did you plan "The Golden Eagle" as a continuation of the original series?

This seems like a good point to bring up a question that has been nagging me. I've read reviews and other comments that indicate the Dream of Eagles series was meant to end at Arthur's coronation. However, Merlyn makes frequent references to Arthur's death, which led me to believe the series would address it. Is Golden Eagle really a planned continuation of the series? Or, were The Saxon Shore and both Sorcerer books re-edited to add references to Arthur's death? (Katie)
