Signed copy of Eagles Brood $2.99
I was walking down Rideau street in Ottawa yesterday on my way to look at som apartments, and I pass by the used bookstore beside the Bytown art house theater. I glance at the books they have outside and see a copy of the eagles brood for $2.99. I figure at that price I can't go wrong so I go inside, drop the coin, and head on back out. A little while later while waiting for a phone call I sit down on a bench and start flipping through it. To my astounishment I discover that had actually been signed by Jack. Nice little surprise.
That's fantastic William, congratulations.
Sounds like my recent experience with a copy of Diana Gabaldon's Outlandish Companion. It was way too expensive for me to afford when it first came out in hardcover, so I decided to wait until the mass market paperback (or at the very least the trade paperback) to come out. Well I waited and waited to no avail - it never came out in either form.
So what should happen a few weeks back? Well I walked into the local thrift store and saw a pristine copy for sale for $3.99 cdn - a bargain if I do say so myself. When I got the thing home I discovered it had been signed by Ms. Gabaldon - bonus!!! :)
Diana Gabaldon is the featured writer at this weekends Scottish festival in Fergus. She's doing to be giving lectures on her books, scottish gneeology, and signings I beleive.
